New kind of Breast Cancer?

In November, a rare kind of breast cancer was found. A lady developeda rash on her breast, similar to that of young mothers who are nursing.Because her mammogram had been clear, the doctor treated her withantibiotics for infections. After 2 rounds, it continued to get worse,so her doctor sent her for another mammogram. This time it showed a mass. A biopsy found a fast growing malignancy. Chemo mastectomy was performed; then a full round of Chemo; then radiation. After about 9 months of intense treatment, s he was given a clean bill of health.

She had one year of living each day to its fullest. Then the cancer returned to the liver area. She took 4 treatments and decided that she wanted quality of life, not the after effects of Chemo. She had 5 great months and she planned each detail of the final days. After a few days of needing morphine, she died. She left this message tobe delivered to women everywhere:

Women, PLEASE be alert to anything that is not normal, and bepersistent in getting help as soon as possible.

Paget's Disease: This is a rare form of breast cancer, and is on the outside of the breast, on the nipple and aureole. It appeared as a rash, which later became a lesion with a crusty at outer edge. I would not have ever suspected it to be breast cancer but it was. My nipple never seemed any different to me, but the rash bothered me, so I went to the doctor for that.Sometimes, it itched and was sore, but other than that it didn't bother me. It was just ugly and a nuisance, and could not be cleared up with all the creams prescribed by my doctor and dermatologist for the dermatitis on my eyes just prior to this outbreak. They seemed a little concerned but did not warn me it could be cancerous.

Now, I suspect not many women out there know a lesion or rash on the nipple or aureole can be breast cancer. (Mine started out as a singlered pimple on the aureole. One of the biggest problems with Paget' sdisease of the nipple is that the symptoms appear to be harmless. It is frequently thought to be a skin inflammation or infection, leading to unfortunate delays in detection and care.)

What are the symptoms?

1. A persistent redness, oozing, and crusting of your nipple causingit to itch and burn (As I stated, mine did not itch or burn much, andhad no oozing I was aware of, but it did have a crust along the outeredge on one side.)

2. A sore on your nipple that will not heal. (Mine was on the aureolearea with a whitish thick looking area in center of nipple).

3. Usually only one nipple is effected. How is it diagnosed? Yourdoctor will do a physic al exam and should suggest having a mammogram ofboth breasts, done immediately. Even though the redness, oozing andcrusting closely resemble dermatitis (inflammation of the skin), yourdoctor should suspect cancer if the sore is only on one breast. Your doctor should order a biopsy of your sore to confirm what is going on.

Next Great Grand Vacation - London! :)

I am looking forward for a trip going to London. I must say this would be a dream vacation for me. I haven't been to this place yet, but I have learned London has a lot to offer. From traditional music halls to state-of-the-art IMAX cinemas, West End theatres to intimate jazz clubs, to affordable London City Hotels.

A BABY'S HUG (A Touching Story)

We were the only family with children in the restaurant. I sat Erik in a high chair and noticed everyone was quietly sitting and talking.

Suddenly, Erik squealed with glee and said, "Hi." He pounded his fat baby hands on the high chair tray. His eyes were crinkled in laughter and his mouth was bared in a toothless grin, as he wriggled and giggled with merriment.

I looked around and saw the source of his merriment. It was a man whose pants were baggy with a zipper at half-mast and his toes poked out of would-be shoes. His shirt was dirty and his hair was uncombed and unwashed. His whiskers were too short to be called a beard and his nose was so varicose it looked like a road map. We were too far from him to smell, but I was sure he smelled. His hands waved and flapped on loose wrists.

"Hi there, baby; Hi there, big boy. I see ya, buster," the man said to Erik.
My husband and I exchanged looks as if to say, "What do we do?"
Erik continued to laugh and answer, "Hi." Everyone in the restaurant noticed and looked at us and then at the man. The old geezer was creating a nuisance with my beautiful baby.
Our meal came and the man began shouting from across the room, "Do ya patty cake? Do you know peek-a-boo? Hey, look, he knows peek-a-boo."

Nobody thought the old man was cute. He was obviously drunk. My husband and I were embarrassed.
We ate in silence; all except for Erik, who was running through his repertoire for the admiring skid row bum, who in turn, reciprocated with his cute comments. We finally got through the meal and headed for the door.

My husband went to pay the check and told me to meet him in the parking lot.
The old man sat poised between me and the door.
"Lord, just let me out of here before he speaks to me or Erik," I prayed.

As I drew closer to the man, I turned my back trying to sidestep him and avoid any air he might be breathing. As I did, Erik leaned over my arm, reaching with both arms in a baby's "pick-me-up" position. Before I could stop him, Erik had propelled himself from my arms to the man's.
Suddenly a very old smelly man and a very young baby consummated their love and kinship.

Erik in an act of total trust, love, and submission laid his tiny head upon the man's ragged shoulder. The man's eyes closed, and I saw tears hover beneath his lashes. His aged hands full of grime, pain, and hard labor, cradled my baby's bottom and stroked his back.
No two beings have ever loved so deeply for so short a time. I stood awestruck. The old man rocked and cradled Erik in his arms and his eyes opened and set squarely on mine.

He said in a firm commanding voice, "You take care of this baby."
Somehow I managed, "I will," from a throat that contained a stone.
He pried Erik from his chest, lovingly and longingly, as though he were in pain.
I received my baby, and the man said, "God bless you, ma'am, you've given me my Christmas gift."

I said nothing more than a muttered thanks.
With Erik in my arms, I ran for the car. My husband was wondering why I was crying and holding Erik so tightly, and why I was saying, "My God, my God, forgive me."

I had just witnessed Christ's love shown through the innocence of a tiny child who saw no sin, who made no judgment; a child who saw a soul, and a mother who saw a suit of clothes. I was a Christian who was blind, holding a child who was not.

I felt it was God asking, "Are you willing to share your son for a moment?"
when He shared His for all eternity.

The ragged old man, unwittingly, had reminded me, "To enter the Kingdom of God, we must become as little children."

The Truth About "Tanglad" (Lemon Grass)

Truth is, even supermarkets are already selling tanglad leaves (seevegetable/fruits section) - - around P20 per bundle. Tanglad leaves also help regulate blood pressure and sugar level as well. Pag sa supermarket ka bibili, malinis na. But you still have to wash it before boiling.

Fresh lemon grass:

A few weeks ago, an article on the medicinal powers of tanglad went the rounds of internet. There's no harm trying this. A bunch of tanglad is ten centavos. Or you can plant it in your backyard for a steady supply.

The article is by Allison Kaplan Sommer:

"At first, Benny Zabidov, an Israeli agriculturalist who grows greenhouses full of lush spices on a pastoral farm in KfarYedidya in the Sharon region, couldn't understand why so many cancer patients from around the country were showing up on his doorstep asking for fresh lemongrass.

"It turned out that their doctors had sent them.

'They had been told to drink eight glasses of hot water with fresh lemon grass steeped in it on the days that they went for their radiation and chemotherapy treatments," Zabidov told ISRAEL21c. "And this is the place you go to in Israel for fresh lemon grass.'

"It all began when researchers at Ben Gurion University of the Negev discovered last year that the lemon aroma in herbs like lemon grass kills cancer cells in vitro, while leaving healthy cells unharmed.

"The research team was led by Dr. Rivka Ofir and Prof. YakovWeinstein, incumbent of the Albert Katz Chair in Cell-Differentiation andMalignant Diseases, from the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at BGU.

"Citral is the key component that gives the lemony aroma and taste in several herbal plants such as lemon grass (Cymbopogon citratus), melissa(Melissa officinalis) and verbena (Verbena officinalis. )

"According to Ofir, the study found that citral causes cancer cells to'commit suicide: using apoptosis, a mechanism called programmed cell death."A drink with as little as one gram of lemon grass contains enough citral to prompt the cancer cells to commit suicide in the test tube.

"The BGU investigators checked the influence of the citral on cancerous cells by adding them to both cancerous cells and normal cells that were grown in a petri dish. The quantity added in the concentrate was equivalent to the amount contained in a cup of regular tea using one gram of lemon herbs in hot water. While the citral killed the cancerous cells, the normal cells remained unharmed.

"The findings were published in the scientific journal Planta Medica, which highlights research on alternative and herbal remedies. Shortly afterwards, the discovery was featured in the popular Israeli press.

"Why does it work? Nobody knows for certain, but the BGU scientists have a theory.

"'In each cell in our body, there is a genetic program which causes programmed cell death. When something goes wrong, the cells divide with no control and become cancer cells. In normal cells, when the cell discovers that thecontrol system is not operating correctly - for example, when it recognizesthat a cell contains faulty genetic material following cell division - it triggers cell death," explains Weinstein. "This research may explain the medical benefit of these herbs.'

"The success of their research led them to the conclusion that herbs containing citral may be consumed as a preventative measure against certain cancerous cells.

"As they learned of the BGU findings in the press, many physicians in Israel began to believe that while the research certainly needed to be explored further, in the meantime it would be advisable for their patients, who were looking for any possible tool to fight their condition, to try to harness the cancer-destroying properties of citral.

"That's why Zabidov's farm - the only major grower of fresh lemon grass in Israel - has become a pilgrimage destination for these patients. Luckily, they found themselves in sympathetic hands. Zabidov greets visitors with a large kettle of aromatic lemon grass tea, a plate of cookies, and a supportive attitude.

"'My father died of cancer, and my wife's sister died young because of cancer," said Zabidov. "So I understand what they are dealing with. And I may not know anything about medicine, but I'm a good listener. And so they tell me about their expensive painful treatments and what they've been through. I would never tell them to stop being treated, but it's great that they are exploring alternatives and drinking the lemongrass tea as well."

"Zabidov knew from a young age that agriculture was his calling. At age 14,he enrolled in the Kfar Hayarok Agricultural high school. After his army service, he joined an idealistic group which headed south, in the Arava desert region, to find a new moshav (agricultural settlement) called Tsofar.

"'We were very successful; we raised fruits and vegetables, and," he notes with a smile, "We raised some very nice children.""On a trip to Europe in the mid-80s, he began to become interested in herbs.

Israel , at the time, was nothing like the trend-conscious cuisine-oriented country it is today, and the only spices being grown commercially were basics like parsley, dill, and coriander.

"Wandering in the Paris market, looking at the variety of herbs and spices,Zabidov realized that there was a great export potential in this niche. He brought samples back home with him, "which was technically illegal," he sayswith a guilty smile, to see how they would grow in his desert greenhouses.

Soon, he was growing basil, oregano, tarragon, chives, sage, marjoram and melissa, and mint just to name a few.

"His business began to outgrow his desert facilities, and so he decided to move north, settling in the moshav of Kfar Yedidya, an hour and a half north of Tel Aviv. He is now selling "several hundred kilos" of lemon grass per week, and has signed with a distributor to package and put it in health food stores.

"Zabidov has taken it upon himself to learn more about the properties of citral, and help his customers learn more, and has invited medical experts to his farm to give lectures about how the citral works and why."He also felt a responsibility to know what to tell his customers about its see. 'When I realized what was happening, I picked up the phone and called Dr. Weinstein at Ben-Gurion University , because these people were asking me exactly the best way to consume the citral. He said to put the loose grass in hot water, and drink about eight glasses each day.'"Zabidov is pleased by the findings, not simply because it means businessfor his farm, but because it might influence his own health. "Even before the news of its benefits were demonstrated, he and his family had been drinking lemon grass in hot water for years, 'just because it tastes good.'"

Mortgage & Loan Review

Mortgage seems to be an important loan being into these days. It is because it is a type of secured loan for one getting a property. There are many types of mortgages out there, depending on any one's capability and circumstances. It is a risky undertaking choosing the proper mortgage, because we need a lot of thinking and considerations before we plunged into it. But who doesn't like cheap mortgage payments? Eveybody of us does ;) That is why here come a UK based website who offers a cheap mortgage quotes for its clients. From here, clients can compare mortgage deals as well. TheHelpGroup.co.uk is the perfect financial matchmaker for you because they can help you get cheap loan quotes and from there you can compare loans deals. let us face it, but getting a mortgage loan for the first time is not as easy as we think. The reason why HelpGroup is here to help.
UK is said to be a nation of secret borrowers according to a conducted research by Abbey Loans. It is surprising to know that at least 1.35 million unsecured loans taken out in UK were done without the knowledge of the borrower's family or friends. It is because of the primary reason that the borrower was too embarrassed to mention it. I agree that borrowing in secret is not a good idea. Thinking carefully before securing a mortgage loan seem to be the safest way to be done at least considering the fact that new mortgages dropped since December 2007.

SI INDAY....

1) I believe that my trained skills and expertise in management with the use of standard tools, and my discipline and experience will contribute significantly to the value of the work that you want, my creativity, productivity and work-efficiency and the high quality of outcomes I can offer will boost the work progress.

2) Compromising safety with useless aesthetics, the not-so-well engineered architectural design of our kitchen lavatory affected the boy's cranium with a slight boil at the left temple near the auditory organ.

3) The consistency was fine. But you see, it seems that the increased amount of sodium chloride (NaCl) affected the taste drastically and those actions are irreversible. I do apologize.

Inday: Because I don't want you to see me doing absolutely nothing.

5) "It's absurd! It was never a fact that he will inflict a fight. I can only imagine how you handle schizophrenic kids on this educational institution. Revise your policies because they suck!"

Inday: A change in the weather patterns might have occurred wrecking havoc to the surroundings. The way the debris are scattered indicates that the gust of wind was going northeast causing damage to the path it was heading for.

Amo: (nosebleed)

7) Stop your raucous behavior. It is bound to result in property damages and if that happens there will be corresponding punishment to be inflicted upon you!

8) Sometimes, people choose to leave not because of selfish reasons but because they just know that things will get worse if they'll stay. Leaving can be a tough act, and it's harder when people can't understand you for doing so.

KIDS BORN BEFORE 1980...

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO WERE BORN IN THE
1950's, 60's and 70's !!

First, some of us survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they carried us. ( sioktong ang inumin)

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, fish from a can ( brand : ligo ), and didn't get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, our baby cribs were covered with bright colored lead-based paints, pati na yung laruang kabayu-kabayuhan.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, no kneepads , sometimes wala ngang preno yung bisikleta.

As children, we would ride in car with no seat belts or air bags – hanggang ngayon naman, di ba ? ( jeep )

Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat. ( maykaya kayo pare ! )

We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle ( minsan straight from the faucet).

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this. Or contacted hepatitis.

We ate rice with tinunaw na purico ( dahil ubos na ang star margarine), nutribuns na galing kay macoy and drank sopdrinks with sugar in it, but we weren't overweight kasi nga......

WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on. Sarap mag patintero, tumbang preso , habulan taguan….

No one was able to reach us all day ( di uso ang celfon , walang beepers ). And we were O.K.

We would spend hours building our trolleys or slides out of scraps and then ride down the street , only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 99 channels on cable, no video tape movies, no surround sound, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet or Internet chat rooms....... ...WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no
lawsuits from these accidents. The only rubbing we get is from our friends with the words…..masakit ba ? pero pag galit yung kalaro mo,,,,ang sasabihin sa iyo…..beh buti nga !

We play in the dirt , wash our hands a little and ate with our barehands…we were not afraid of getting worms in our stomachs.

We have to live with homemade guns – gawa sa kahoy, tinali ng rubberband , sumpit , tirador at kung ano ano pa na puedeng makasakit…..pero walang nagrereklamo.

made up games with sticks ( syatong )and cans ( tumbang preso )and although we were told it would happen, wala naman tayong binulag o napatay….paminsan minsan may nabubukulan.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just yelled for them!

Mini basketball teams had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment.

This generation of ours has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and managers ever!

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned
HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!
And I am one of them! :))

CONGRATULATIONS batchmates!!!

Pictures in Amarillo, TX.

These are the pics of the crucifixion of Christ that a man sculptured out of metal near Amarillo, Tx .. The cross is a giant made of metal also. The man did this out of the kindness of his heart. Someone donated the land to him.

How I wish we can be able to visit the place. We might be considering it since we will be in Texas in May. That will be around early summer. God willing :)

$8 Complete Prescription Eyeglasses+ Case

Great Discovery: Zenni Optical. That is what I have discovered today! I haven't known there is one site that sells prescription glasses online, and even comes in stylish designs. They have huge selection of frames from single vision lens, sunsensor(potochromic)lens, tinted suglasses lens, bifocal lens to progressive lens. And one more important thing is this exciting promo, Zenni Optical $8 Rx Glasses with case included! Now that is a super low price and very affordable, don't you think? Good thing about ZenniOptical is that they sell only their own manufactured frames direct to the customer, with no middlemen and virtually no advertising budget, the reason why they have low prices. And come to think of it, they go international. What more can I say it is the...Best Thing Found: Zenni Optical. No more, no less! ;)

ETO PA "Ang Pilipino NOON at NGAYON":

NGAYON: Gusto mo DOVE, HENO DE PRAVIA, IVORY, etc.may matching shampoo pa

========================================================================

My Fellow Filipinos, When I was small, the Philippine peso was P7 to thedollar. The president was Diosdado Macapagal. Life was simple. Life waseasy. My father was a farmer. My mother kept a small sari-sari storewhere our neighbors bought sang-perang asin, sang-perang bagoong,sang-perang suka, sang-perang toyo at pahinging isang butil na bawang.

Our backyard had kamatis, kalabasa, talong, ampalaya, upo, batao, andokra. Our silong had chicken. We had a pig, dog & cat. And of course, welived on the farm. During rainy season, my father caught frogs at nightwhich my mother made into batute (stuffed frog), or just plain fried.During the day, he caught hito and dalag from his rice paddies, which hewould usually inihaw. During dry season, we relied on the chickens, vegetables, bangus, tuyo, and tinapa. Every now and then, there was porkand beef from the town market.

Life was so peaceful, so quiet, no electricity, no TV. Just the radiofor Tia Dely, Roman Rapido, Tawag ng Tanghalan and Tang-tarang-tang. Andwho can forget Leila Benitez on Darigold Jamboree? On weekends, I playedwith my neighbors (who were all my cousins).Tumbang-preso, taguan, piko, luksong lubid, patintero, at iba pa. I don't know about you, but I miss those days.

These days, we face the TV, Internet, e-mail, newspaper, magazine, grocery catalog, or drive around. The peso is a staggering andincredible P54 to the dollar. Most people can't have fun anymore. Lifehas become a battle. We live to work. Work to live.Life is not easy.

I was in Saudi Arabia in 1983. It was lonely, difficult, & scary. Itdidn't matter if you were a man or a woman. You were a target for rape. The salary was cheap & the vacation is far between. If the boss didn'twant you to go on holiday, you didn't. They had your passport. Oh, andthe agency charged you almost 4 months of your salary (which, if you hadto borrow on "20% per month arrangement" meant your first year's pay wasall gone before you even earned it).

The Philippines used to be one of the most important countries in Asia. Before & during my college days, many students from neighboring Asiancountries like Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan and China went to thePhilippines to get their diplomas. Until 1972, like President Macapagal,President Marcos was one of the most admired presidents of the world. The Peso had kept its value of P7 to the dollar until I finished college.

Today, the Philippines is famous as the "housemaid"capital of theworld. It ranks very high as the "cheapest labor"capital of the world, too. We have maids in Hong Kong, laborers in Saudi Arabia, dancers inJapan, migrants and TNTs in Australia and the US, and all sorts of other"tricky" jobs in other parts of the globe. Quo Vadis, Pinoy? Is that awonder or a worry?

Are you proud to be a Filipino, or does it even matter anymore? When yousee the Filipino flag and hear the Pambansang Awit, do you feel a senseof pride or a sense of defeat & uncertainty? If only things could changefor the better.......

Hang on for this is a job for Superman. Or whom do you call?Ghostbusters. Joke. Right? This is one of our problems. We say "I lovethe Philippines. I am proud to be a Filipino." When I send you a joke, you send it to everyone in your address book even if it kills theInternet. But when I send you a note on how to save our country & askyou to forward it, what do you do? You chuck it in the bin.

I want to help the maids in Hong Kong. I want to help the laborers inSaudi Arabia. I want to help the dancers in Japan. I want to help theTNTs in America and Australia. I want to save the people of thePhilippines. But I cannot do it alone. I need your help and everyoneelse's. So please forward this e-mail to your friends.

If you say you love the Philippines, prove it. And if you don't agreewith me, say something anyway. Indifference is a crime on its own.

Concert and Sports Tickets

If there is a company who helps in matching buyers and sellers of concert, sports, and theater tickets, etc, viagogo.co.uk is one leading company worth considering. This is a leading ticket hub in Europe, and they have lots of stuffs to offer when it comes to shows, entertainments, concerts and sports ticketing. I always love musical concerts. Westlife is one group I have been familiar with, and honestly most of their songs are very famous...even to my liking ;) I agree, they still are a total pop phenomenon. It's kinda cool catching them live in London middle of March. It's good buying tickets from viagogo is hassle free. By the way guys, if you think you can't make it in London, and you are a die hard fun, you can catch them up at Belfast arena, Liverpool, Newcastle, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, Nottingham, Sheffield and Cardiff. You can buy Westlife concert tickets to any venue selection that you want as mentioned above, but of course don't forget to check the website and start from there :)

If you think you can't bear music and would prefer watching sports, Sports tickets are also available at viagogo.

Sightseeing Tours

I am a frequent traveller. Do you love going on tours? I do, and it has been a memorable vacation experience for me doing it with Trusted Tours & Attractions. Experience wise, this tour company is doing a great job.
One unforgettable experience I had was our Old Town Trolley Tour of Washington DC. We got tickets for the DC trolley tour so, from Union Station we boarded the DC trolley. It was supposed to be a full tour of the entire DC tourist destinations, but we planned to stop at the US Capitol and had a tour inside. It's a long tour since they do it by batch, so we decided to stick to this tour for today. This was my first time seeing the US Capitol, a very famous landmark that I have been wishing to see all my life :) I must have been lucky that I still got to see the building inside too. Although we have been in the US capitol building for more than couple hours, we were still able to pass by Lincoln Memorial, the Mall, Smithsonian, etc. There is so much to be done when doing Washington DC tours. You won't regret doing it. Let's face it, once you are on tour, sightseeing tours are always a highlight. Here's the good news from Trusted Tours. You can now sign up for a travel e-newsletters and win a HandHeld GPS! That's a big bonus, right? Sightseeing is much fun to do, and getting a handheld GPS should have been much better too! Have fun!

A Dad's Story

A very touching story, one of those stories that made me teary eyed.

Isn't it amazing how the Lord would find ways to tell us He is around us with the angels? :) His miracles are still working today, tomorrow, and forever more.

"On July 22nd I was in route to Washington, DC for a business trip. It was all so very ordinary, until we landed in Denver for a plane change.
As I collected my belongings from the overhead bin, an announcement was made for Mr. Lloyd Glenn to see the United Customer Service Representative immediately. I thought nothing of it until I reached the door to leave the plane and I heard a gentleman asking every male if he were Mr. Glenn. At this point I knew something was wrong and my heart sunk.

When I got off the plane a solemn-faced young man came toward me and said, "Mr. Glenn, there is an emergency at your home. I do not know what the emergency is, or who is involved, but I will take you to the phone so you can call the hospital."

My heart was now pounding, but the will to be calm took over. Woodenly, I followed this strang er to the distant telephone where I called the number he gave me for the Mission Hospital. My call was put through to the trauma center where I learned that my three-year-old son had been trapped underneath the automatic garage door for several minutes, and that when my wife had found him he was dead. CPR had been performed by a neighbor, who is a doctor, and the paramedics had continued the treatment as Brian was transported to the hospital.

By the time of my call, Brian was revived and they believed he would live, but they did not know how much damage had been done to his brain, nor to his heart. They explained that the door had completely closed on his little sternum right over his heart. He had been severely crushed. After speaking with the medical staff, my wife sounded worried but not hysterical, and I took comfort in her calmness.

The return flight seemed to last forever, but finally I arrived at the hospital six hours after the garage door had come down. When I walked into the intensive care unit, nothing could have prepared me to see my little son laying so still on a great big bed with tubes and monitors everywhere.

He was on a respirator. I glanced at my wife who stood and tried to give me a reassuring smile. It all seemed like a terrible dream. I was filled-in with the details and given a guarded prognosis. Brian was going to live, and the reliminary tests indicated that his heart was OK, two miracles in and of themselves. But only time would tell if his brain received any damage.

Throughout the seemingly endless hours, my wife was calm. She felt that Brian would eventually be all right. I hung on to her words and faith like a lifeline. All that night and the next day Brian remained unconscious. It seemed like forever since I had left for my business trip the day before.

Finally at two o'clock that afternoon, our son regained consciousness and sat up uttering the most beautiful words I have ever heard spoken. He said, "Daddy hold me" and he reached for me with his little arms.

[TEAR BREAK...smile]

By the next day he was pronounced as having no neurological or physical deficits, and the story of his miraculous survival spread throughout the hospital. You cannot imagine, we took Brian home, we felt a unique reverence for the life and love of our Heavenly Father that comes to those who brush death so closely.

In the days that followed there was a special spirit about our home. Our two older children were much closer to their little brother. My wife and I were much closer to each other, and all of us were very close as a whole family. Life took on a less stressful pace. Perspective seemed to be more focused, and balance much easier to gain and maintain. We felt deeply blessed. Our gratitude was truly profound.

The story is not over (smile)!

Almost a month later to the day of the accident, Brian awoke from his afternoon nap and said, "Sit down Mommy.. I have something to tell you." At this time in his life, Brian usually spoke in small phrases, so to say a large sentence surprised my wife. She sat down with him on his bed, and he began his sacred and remarkable story.

"Do you remember when I got stuck under the garage door? Well, it was so heavy and it hurt really bad. I called to you, but you couldn't hear me.. I started to cry, but then it hurt too bad. And then the 'birdies' came."

"The birdies?" my wife asked puzzled.
"Yes," he replied. "The birdies made a whooshing sound and flew into the garage. They took care of me."

"They did?"

"Yes," he said. "One of the birdies came and got you. She came to tell you "I got stuck under the door." A sweet reverent feeling filled the room. The spirit was so strong and yet lighter than air. My wife realized that a three-year-old had no concept of death and spirits, so he was referring to the beings who came to him from beyond as "birdies" because they were up in the air like birds that fly.. "What did the birdies look like?" she asked.

Brian answered, "They were so beautiful. They were dressed in white, all white. Some of them had green and white. But some of them had on just white."

"Did they say anything?"

"Yes," he answered. "They told me the baby would be all right."

"The baby?" my wife asked confused.

Brian answered. "The baby laying on the garage floor." He went on, "You came out and opened the garage door and ran to the baby. You told the baby to stay and not leave."

My wife nearly collapsed upon hearing this, for she had indeed gone and knelt beside Brian's body and seeing his crushed chest whispered, "Don't leave us Brian, please stay if you can." As she listened to Brian telling her the words she had spoken, she realized that the spirit had left his body and was looking down from above on this little lifeless form..

"Then what happened?" she asked.

"We went on a trip," he said, "far, far away." He grew agitated trying to say the things he didn't seem to have the words for. My wife tried to calm and comfort him, and let him know it would be okay. He struggled with wanting to tell something that obviously was very important to him, but
finding the words was difficult.
"We flew so fast up in the air. They're so pretty Mommy," he added. "And there are lots and lots of birdies."

My wife was stunned. Into her mind the sweet comforting spirit enveloped her more soundly, but with an urgency she had never before known. Brian went on to tell her that the "birdies" had told him that he had to come back and tell everyone about the "birdies." He said they brought him back to the house and that a big fire truck, and an ambulance were there. A man was bringing the baby out on a white bed and he tried to tell the man that the baby would be okay.
The story went on for an hour.

He taught us that "birdies" were always with us, but we don't see them because we look with our eyes and we don't hear them because we listen with our ears. But they are always there, you can only see them in here (he put his hand over his heart). They whisper the things to help us to do what is right because they love us so much. Brian continued, stating, "I have a plan, Mommy. You have a plan.. Daddy has a plan. Everyone has a plan. We must all live our plan and keep our promises. The birdies help us to do that cause they love us so much."

In the weeks that followed, he often came to us and told all, or part Of it, again and again. Always the story remained the same. The details were never changed or out of order. A few times he added further bits of information and clarified the message he had already delivered. It never ceased to amaze us how he could tell such detail and speak beyond his ability when he talked about his birdies.

Everywhere he went, he told strangers about the "birdies." Surprisingly, no one ever looked at him strangely when he did this. Rather, they always got a softened look on their face and smiled. Needless to say, we have not been the same ever since that day, and I pray we never will be.

Medical Career Training

One of the fastest and highly in demand nowadays is in the field of medical careers. The demand for health professionals is continously increasing due to the increasing world population. Because of this, more people need constant or increased care and supervision. Some medical careers are experiencing extreme shortages in many areas, that is why medical or health companies continously are open for medical training offers and courses as well. Medical and health services managers are well compensated for their efforts, with earnings potential generally exceeding $115,000 per year, depending on the size and type of facility and the level of responsibility. It's worth the effort in the midst of extremely hard work for health professionals. Come to think of it, the decision to go into the medical field is one that should not be made based on the easy ability to find a job or a high salary. With irregular and long hours, and with the constant fulfillment on the demands of clients and patients, all of these factors must be considered before choosing to pursue a career in medicine. In spite of the demand that this type of career can put on you, it is an extremely fulfilling one, as you are constantly contributing to the health and well-being of other people.

Why Women are Crabby

We started to "bud" in our blouses at 9 or 10 years old only to find that anything that came in contact with those tender, blooming buds hurt so bad it brought us to tears. So came the ridiculously uncomfortable training bra contraption that the boys in school would snap until we had calluses on our backs.

Next, we get our periods in our early to mid-teens (or sooner). Along with those budding boobs, we bloated, we cramped, we got the hormone crankies, had to wear little mattresses between our legs or insert tubular, packed cotton rods in places we didn't even know we had.

Our next little rite of passage (premarital or not) was having sex for the first time which was about as much fun as having a ramrod push your uterus through your nostrils (IF he did it right and didn't end up with his little cart before his horse), leaving us to wonder what all the fuss was about.

Then it' was off to Motherhood where we learned to live on dry crackers and water for a few months so we didn't spend the entire day leaning over Brother John. Of course, amazing creatures that we are (and we are), we learned to live with the growing little angels inside us steadily kicking our innards night and day making us wonder if we were preparing to have Rosemary's Baby.

Our once flat bellies looked like we swallowed a watermelon whole and we pee'd our pants every time we sneezed. When the big moment arrived, the dam in our blessed Nether Regions invariably burst right in the middle of the mall and we had to waddle, with our big cartoon feet, moaning in pain all the way to the ER.

Then it was huff and puff and beg to die while the OB says, "Please stop screaming, Mrs. Hearmeroar. Calm down and push. Just one more good push (more like 10)," warranting a strong, well-deserved impulse to punch the %*#!* (and hubby) square in the nose for making us cram a wiggling, mushroom-headed 10lb bowling ball through a keyhole.

After that, it was time to raise those angels only to find that when all that "cute" wears off, the beautiful little darlings morphed into walking, jabbering, wet, gooey, snot-blowing, life-sucking little poop machines.

Then come their "Teen Years." Need I say more?

When the kids are almost grown, we women hit our voracious sexual prime in our early 40's - while hubby had his somewhere around his 18th birthday.

So we progress into the grand finale: "The Menopause," the Grandmother of all womanhood. It's either take HRT and chance cancer in those now seasoned "buds" or the aforementioned Nether Regions, or, sweat like a hog in July, wash your sheets and pillowcases daily and bite the head off anything that moves.

Now, you ask WHY women seem to be more spiteful than men, when men get off so easy, INCLUDING the icing on life's cake: Being able to pee in the woods without soaking their socks...

So, while I love being a woman, "Womanhood" would make the Great Gandhi a tad crabby. Women are the "weaker sex"? Yeah right. Bite me.d
