The 3 Fads About Turkey Meat

Fad #1: Turkey's dark meat is bad for you.
It's aa fact that a turkey leg has about 30 more calories and 4 grams of fat per serving than its breast meat, but dark meat also packs more folate than iron, - 2 nutrients that help boost energy, good for your heart's health. So, if you're a leg lover, go for it! ;)

Fad#2: Turkey can make you sleepy.
If you get into a food coma particularly on Thanksgiving Day, don't blame the turkey! Turkey doesn't contain a tryptophan, - a relaxing amino acid often the cause of tiredness. This is present in chicken or beef. If you become sleepy, it's because you ate too much of a big meal. Any big meal can slow us down!

Fad#3: It's not safe to cook stuffing inside a turkey.
While it's a fact that bacteria from a raw turkey cavity can get into the stuffing and multiply, it's just okay to pop it in the oven right away and make sure to cook it up to 165 degrees on a meat thermometer.
