Sneaky Ways To Help You Spend Smarter!

Once you've gotten more cash in that wallet of yours, don't get too excited to just blow it all with a shopping spree! Consider the fact that buying certain things at certain times can mean spending less.

For instance, you might want to try shopping on Mondays, as department stores typically mark down their items on Sunday nights or Monday mornings. This is a great way to get great deals! :)

If you're eyeing to shop for furnitures, linens or other stuff for homes, try doing it between January to end of February when retailers offer the biggest discounts.

If you are planning for your next get away vacation, try booking for air tickets on a Tuesday morning. Fare sales are usually given on Monday nights, so competitors usually match (or beat) those prices by morning.

Happy shopping! :)

Back To School Shopping Rules

Having some rules as guides for back-to-school shopping is a perfect way for parents to help their kids buy their school needs and yet still within the budget. At the same time, parents can help their children develop a good lifelong financial habits in the process.

Parents can lead by setting an example when it comes to handling finances intelligently.

Here are the tips that should start a parent-kid conversation when shopping for school needs.

  • Before going to the mall, both parents and the kids should know what you can afford and can't. Make sure that a certain budget amount is set and both should stick with it.
  • Kids should make a list of things they need and both parents and kids can go over with the list for a further review. Having a list can also help kids understand of what they really need rather than what they want. It will also help them to plan and save.
  • Both parents and kids should sit down and discuss what to purchase now and what can wait until later in the school year. This way, both can take advantage for discounts and sales.
  • Using smartphone. It can help as a shopping assistant with the help of some free apps that can be used to get the best deals as well as the closest locations on a variety of items. Smartphones can also be used to scan barcodes to compare prices on the items on the shopping list, as well as it can help check availability both online and in the actual store locations closest to home.

Things You Should Know To Avoid Sports Injuries

If you work long hours from a sedentary job, a sudden burst of activity can make you a high risk for injury, particularly in the lower back and knees. So, just increase your activity at intensity considering your pace, distance, or weight by at least 10% per week.

Before exercising, be sure to take 16 ounces of water first thing in the morning, and 16 ounces about half hour before you exercise. This can help you avoid dehydration (whether severe or moderate) that can prevent you from tripping or twisting your ankle.
Drink more liquids if your activity lasts more than an hour. Eating greens and bananas regularly can also prevent cramping during your exercise.

Try skipping the brace (over-the-counter) if you plan of wearing them for more than a day or two, as they tend to weaken the muscles so they're more susceptible to injury.

Try buying a foam roller. You can search them online for cheaper prices. According to a recent study, it found that 10 minutes following foam rolling, flexibility increases by more than 10%. To use a foam roller: - lie on a 6-inch diameter foam log, then press on the muscle you're targeting with your body weight. As you roll, you will break down knots and improve range of motion.

If you are inspired, try R.I.C.E. first before you rush to the emergency room for a minor injury. R.I.C.E. means Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevate, which is a good treatment for several days. If there is still a discomfort, ask your doctor for a referral to a physical therapist.
This can help you recover faster and get a lower cost of treatment compared to those who have delayed care.

My Phone's Support Accessories!

Right after I bought my Iphone 6+, it looks so delicate that anytime I drop or hit it hard with any object, it might break! :) I know I sound so silly, but it was just natural for me to become over protective with this phone because it came with a pricey tag! I chose to get the unlocked one since I do travel a lot and can use it out of the country.

So, I tried looking for a casing that wouldn't look so bulky and heavy so I can carry it conveniently in my smaller purses. I actually tried looking in some stores, but I just don't like the styles as they are too thick.
I tried online, and I saw some. I saw this pair from Amazon, and one of the features say they can protect the phone from sudden hard drops and scratches. The only downside of this is, it takes a while to fit it on the phone as you have to really stretch the corners to fit in the phone's size. Same thing when you remove it. But truly, I already tested the credibility of it when I brought it in one of my trips in the Caribbean. I used my phone with the blue protective cover in taking a shot with my phone stand. The tripod was light and suddenly there was that gusty breeze that passed by, and the tripod collapsed. I was running to catch it but were not able to do it on time before it hit the floor. I picked my phone and I there was my phone, still good without any single scratch and cracks! Whew! Thank God! So, I am loving these two despite of the tight fit! ;)

I also bought another style with a cover design and a 4 pocket slots for cards or IDs or paper bills. It's actually one cool design that I like. Uniquely done. It also has a strap that will act as a support to avoid accidental drops. But I couldn't speak for myself if this can protect the phone for a scratch or sudden drop. I just hope I wouldn't drop it in anyway! I rarely use this one though, so I guess it should be okay.

House Cleaning, Easy As 1, 2, 3!

Cleaning a huge home can be very tough including some other household chores you do in between. I have been struggling these past few weeks catching up with my household cleaning and clearing stuff that I and my husband no longer need. Well, I can perhaps do the disposing of old stuff like that, but the cleaning and scrubbing?...

I know most of us would be always busy at work most of the time, and we couldn't even barely just make the shower or tub cleaned! So, how about a housecleaning service? Would that make our life even easier? Oh, yes!...a LOT! ;)

So, I saw this link theotherwoman.net, a house cleaning and maid service cleaning company located in North Carolina area, particularly in Raleigh, Cary, Gamer, Apex and Holly Springs. Their services are affordable so you don't need to worry about spending a big budget for it. You can check their rates and services directly online.

The 3 Fads About Turkey Meat

Fad #1: Turkey's dark meat is bad for you.
It's aa fact that a turkey leg has about 30 more calories and 4 grams of fat per serving than its breast meat, but dark meat also packs more folate than iron, - 2 nutrients that help boost energy, good for your heart's health. So, if you're a leg lover, go for it! ;)

Fad#2: Turkey can make you sleepy.
If you get into a food coma particularly on Thanksgiving Day, don't blame the turkey! Turkey doesn't contain a tryptophan, - a relaxing amino acid often the cause of tiredness. This is present in chicken or beef. If you become sleepy, it's because you ate too much of a big meal. Any big meal can slow us down!

Fad#3: It's not safe to cook stuffing inside a turkey.
While it's a fact that bacteria from a raw turkey cavity can get into the stuffing and multiply, it's just okay to pop it in the oven right away and make sure to cook it up to 165 degrees on a meat thermometer.

Protect Your Table With Quality Table Covers!

I still prefer table cloths for my table covers at home. While they maybe a bit pricey as compared to disposables or plastic table covers, your money will always be worth it in the end when it comes to durability and length of use.

I am thinking of actually upgrading the cover of my 4-seaters round table at home. Premier Table Linens online offers high quality table cloths, so I would surely Buy Round tablecloth online. With their various collections of fibers, it is actually better to have the best choice I can have to have an elegant design that I can put on my round table for special occasions.

The Right Toothpaste For Your Teeth

Taking good care of our teeth is one way of helping our dentists minimizing any future teeth problems someday, - at least in our own little way. So, how do you pick the right toothpaste for your teeth?
First, consider choosing one with a flouride. This protects your teeth against acid which is one cause of a tooth decay. Flouride also reduces acid made by bacteria in your mouth.

Consider also looking for the ADA seal, which assures the credibility of claims reflected on the label, such as whitening or tartar control.
Try giving your teeth a "tongue test". If they feel gritty soon after brushing, you're building up plaque faster than average. So that your best option is to choose a paste that prevents its growth, like Crest Pro-Health or Colgate Total.

Stick on following directions. If a whitening toothpaste says to brush twice a day, and you brush 5x instead, you don't get whiter teeth, but may instead wear down your enamel.
It's also ideal to use a pea-size amount.

Musical Education For Better Music Quality Performance

Music is a window of the soul. For many musicians and music lovers, it is more than a fulfillment to create their own music not only for them to enjoy but for their audience as well. Many famous band and orchestra players came up with a good training in music education

Music teachers and trainers can be considered as unsung heroes! What is music without them? How can a music lover be inspired without their encouragement, right?

It is always nice to enjoy the music you make through a mentor. Your skills will take you up to the next level while at the same time enjoying your own kind of music.

Samsung Galaxy Cam (EK-GC110) In Coma Mode!

I bought this camera in 2013, and honestly it didn't disappoint me. It was pricey, but it was worth it due to its extra photo mode functions and photo quality. The only thing I wished for was that it should have been lighter and smaller.

It was the hard drop that its zooming lens hit a stone...then it ended everything! :(

The result...it can no longer take a photo and every time I press the camera, the "zooming lens error" kept popping up on the screen.
The only good thing is that I can still turn it on, and can still view all the photo files in the gallery, and can edit or delete them. It still worked when I connected it to my PC, so just to be sure, I copied all my photos in here and moved it to my notebook storage as back up.

A bad lesson learned; - I didn't get any warranty when I bought it. I went back to Best Buy where I bought it and they said they can't do anything about it considering the fact that I didn't have any warranty, but they suggested me to take it to the Geek Squad. Obviously, this means I have to shell out some more bucks for the repair if they can possibly do it.

Oh well, I still haven't brought it for repair yet. This camera needs a lot of extra care. Just even a slight drop on a hard surface can ruin everything. Handling it requires extra caution!

Warnings ( & Cures) Regarding That Harmful Habits of Yours

Do you nail bite? - This maybe a sign of an underlying mental health condition like an impulsive control disorder or anxiety. Constant nail biting doesn't likely to cause a long-term damage with your fingernails but it can lead to an infection.
Now, here's a tip that sounds funny, but research proved it really works.
Go find a bitter-tasting clear polishes which are designed to discourage nail biters from biting. You can usually find them in any pharmacy.
If you got "pinworm" out of nail biting, you'll end up in the pharmacy looking for deworming solutions, too, right?

Do you love to listen to loud music? - A one tune-fueled cardio session could have the ability to damage your eardrums! Based on a Ghent University researchers in Belgium, they found out that after an hour of listening to music via headphones or earbuds with a 50-100% of an ipod's max. volume shows that subjects suffered a significant short-term hearing deterioration. Repeated exposure over a period of time can lead to permanent hearing damage.
The most practical way of avoiding this is to turn down the volume of your music less than the maximum percentage volume needed. Use sound-insulating headphones if you are in a noisy setting.

Using high heels daily. - Wearing them everyday can hurt more than just your feet. Common studies have proven that high-heeled shoes can disrupt blood flow in your legs which can lead to venous hypertension and varicose veins. They can also alter your gait or posture as they put a strain on your leg muscles and tendons.
Choose a shorter, low-wedged heels as much as you can. They can distribute your weight better and can even lessen the pressure off the balls of your feet.

Are you a soda lover? - Artificial sweeteners (aspartame & sucralose) are found in your favorite soft drinks. Consuming large amount of them can lead to weight gain. Evidences suggest that fake sugars such as artificial sweeteners activate the brain's reward pathways differently than what natural sugars do. As a result, you don't feel satisfied, so your appetite continously increases.
As a solution, try switching your drinks to juice, or better yet develop the habit of drinking water.

Do you have a sedentary work/lifestyle? - A sedentary lifestyle increases your risk to pulmonary embolisms, cancer, diabetes and more complicated illnesses.
Always keep in mind that active movements no matter how small they are, will always be ideal. Study shows that by simply standing or walking around for at least 2 hours or more each day can reduce your risk of diabetes by 12%

Hit "Unfriend" - And You'll Get Happier!

According to a recent study from Spain, it found out that people with a very large number of friends in Facebook felt they are less satisfied with their lives after reading their friends' status updates. Based on the study, these subjects applied to those who have more than 354 friends on their list. Well, it doesn't mean this applies to everybody else. But majority does.

According to the study author Dilney Goncalves, PhD, "Facebook gives an unrealistically positive view of others' lives." It points out that the more friends you have on your list, the more braggy posts you see, increasing your sense of view that other people are better off than you.
If you seem to be feeling like this, perhaps it's time to use your judgement to unsubscribe or "unfriend" from contacts who do not make you happy.

Just say "farewell show-offs"...simple as that.
Problem solved! :)

Air Travel Problems & Their Quick Solutions

Dealing With Swollen Legs:
Some people usually experience leg swelling when travelling by plane. I had an experience with this, but thank God, I was able to find out the real reason why.
The reason for this is that the inside of your legs expand due to low air pressure which is usually present inside a plane. Lack of inactivity like sitting for a long time in a long flight causes fluids to pool especially at the lower half of your legs. Another reason would be that, you take in less oxygen, which slows down circulation.

If you experience this every time you fly, avoid wearing tight shoes. If it's a very long flight, get up and walk around every 2 hours to encourage active circulation.
Also, avoid food that are salty and bloat-inducing such as peanuts and pretzels.

Dealing With Jet Lag:
If your flight is an overnight, try to fall asleep as soon as possible. It will help to wear a sleep mask to block light, and place something soft on your lap like a pillow to relax your muscles.
Upon landing, wear a pair of sunglasses and do it for 2-3 hours if possible. This allows blocking out light, allowing you to adjust gradually to the new time zone.

The Best Ways to Get Sleep Better & Faster! ;)

Studies show that getting few hours of sleep can have bad effects on your health, but getting too much of it isn't good for your body either. But there are helpful habitual routines we could do to achieve the best sleep and wake up refreshed, healthy and happy.

An evening walk. You can try taking a stroll in your neighborhood after dinner. It aids digestion, and that your sleep won't be affected by stomach gurglings or heartburn. Also, doing it before sun sets could help you snooze.

Avoid or at least minimize too much worrying at midnight like stressing yourself thinking about paying your bills or what you're going to do and serve on your next dinner party. Every night, it would help you lessen the worries by writing down some few nagging issues present in your mind as well as this could help you plan on what to do about them. Mapping out some possible solutions will quiet your mind and helps you rest easier.

When you sleep, make your bedroom a blackout zone, which means shut your blinds off, turn all you computers and TV off, wear a sleep mask, etc...anything that can help you put yourself into total darkness.

Create a sleep ritual just like how you do it with your kids giving them a nightly bath or story book-bed routine. This creates a rythmic and ritualized conditions on your body and brain making you realize that it is now indeed a sleep time, helping you fall asleep faster.
One ideal example is taking a hot bath that causes you to sweat before bedtime...Then, after you dry off, your body cools down and you then naturally gets drowsy. Or get under your covers and pick a good book for you to read. Reading before bed relaxes the mind and helps you power down making it easier to doze off.

Let the morning sunshine in when you wake up. Morning light they say, has the most potent effect on helping our body get in sync with the day. So, once you're awaken, open your blinds to let the sunshine in. If your waking up time is before sunrise, you might want to buy a dawn simulator. ;) This will help gradually increase light just to tease you out of bed.
Both light and exercise have proven to improve alertness and your mood. Then, take some time extra for a 10-minute stroll and walk your dog or walk to a farther bus stop.
Then, you'll be able to really rise and shine!

Ways How You can Take Your Work Seriously

If you want to be successful and at the same time be well respected by your co workers and/or superiors, One vital aspect to consider is to develop an executive presence instead of focusing on your age and title.

Some tips that might help;

Make sure you are clear enough in communicating with your people. For instance, be sure that your email is completely covered with all the points about a topic in one single email, instead of sending bunch of emails with scattered thoughts. Broken, short ideas gives the impression that you lack focus in your thinking.

Be confident enough to be visible by sitting infront and at the center during a meeting. Sitting of the side reflects you are not confident. Be brave enough to be seen and heard.

During a meeting, taking notes on paper is highly preferred rather than doing it on your phone. It can send a message that your focus is nowhere and may be misunderstood as you're texting or sending personal emails.

When talking, start your message in a higher pitched tone and end it with a lower pitch. Doing it the other way around can invite more people to counter what you're saying.

Ask and assess yourself what kind of leader you want to be and what are the characteristics you want to value in a leader. Then, put some real actions behind it.

Wireless Headphone For My Samsung TV

So, few months ago, I upgraded my old RCA (TruFlat) TV to a 32-inches LED TV 4003 in our bedroom. It was a great one; - the color, picture and sound quality, etc.

Then, a week ater that, I bought a wireless headphone thinking I could use it with the new TV so it wouldn't disturb my husband while he sleeps. It is actually a nice headphone with some special features, only to discover it later that the model of the TV wasn't equipped with a wireless headphone function. I checked all the ports and holes at the back of the TV, then checked the headphone instructions severla times...Nada! The headphone didn't really work!

I asked a Samsung representative online about the situation and he told me that the model of my TV isn't equipped for a wireless headphone function. Bad news, indeed!
I told hubby, and he bought a new one (TV), this time we had to be sure that it is equipped with wireless headphone function.

The first night that I used my headphone was quiet...no arguments! And the hubby had the best sleep ever. LOL!

Samsung Galaxy S4's Inability to Connect to Wi-Fi!

Okay, so few days ago, my Galaxy S4 was acting strangely and I noticed it wasn't connecting to my wi-fi at home. I thought it was only a minor issue, so I turned it off, removed the battery, then put it back on...so the wi-fi came on.
Until the problem came often to the point of turning it off and removing the battery no longer works! It sucks! :(

So, I tried searching Android forums for an answer. There were lots of suggestions including those who talked about complicated technical terms, - "root your phone", - "save zip file, and download it to your phone...yabba, dabba! etc...whatever.

There were suggestions luring me to buy different names of softwares as well. Those things who want to make business, it was a great opportunity, don't you think?
There was also a video that showed downloading a wi-fi manager on my phone from the play store, so on and forth! I found it useless and unsensible at all...how can I download the stuff, if in the first place, the phone couldn't connect to a wi-fi? Forget that!

There were more complicated suggestions like upgrading my router, or changing the channels. I don't have any single clue of what are those techy terms as they become deeper as I continue reading the steps. So, I gave up. Besides, I don't think my router was the problem because all my IOS devices have strong wi-fi signals and were all working in excellent conditions.

The last thing came up in my mind when somebody mentioned about resetting the phone. So, I did. I just had to back up m contacts to my SIM card prior to resetting. There were no important photos in my gallery, so I let them go!

Hah! That did the trick! The phone went back to its default factory settings. And the wi-fi came back as strong as ever! :). The interface looked even cleaner after the reset, which is much better looking to me! This is one thing I didn't like with Android phones about their cluttered interface. Lots of menus to go through and keys to press, etc.
It was all about its camera features that I can't put down this phone. ;).

I use two Iphones, and 3 ipads and they never had problems such as this kind of glitch!
Well, there are no perfect smart phones, that I know. IOS devices such as iphones/ipads have their downs too, but having both an android phone and IOS smart phones perfectly fill up each other's downside features!

So far, I've solved the problem, and that's what matters most. :)
