Start checking it making it sure the pressure gauge's pointer is in the green zone. If it isn't, contact your local fire station to find out where to have the apparatus repressurized and refilled with extinguishing agent.
If the instruction label is unreadable, contact the manufacturer for a replacement. Be sure to check cracks, dents or rusts as well. If you see them, it's time to buy a new replacement!
