Fraud alert
The gist of the scam is con artists, who already have some information about you, pretend to be from the Security Department of Visa or Mastercard and try to obtain the 3 digit code on the back of your credit card. Do not give it out. Read on below for more details.
Click on the links for websites that confirm this scam, including the website of the Indiana Attorney General.

Note, the callers do not ask for your card number; they already haveit. This information is worth reading. By understanding how the VISA &MasterCard Telephone Credit Card Scam works, you'll be better preparedto protect yourself. One of our employees was called on Wednesday from "VISA", and I wascalled on Thursday from "Master Card".The scam works like this: Person calling says, "This is (name), andI'm calling from the Security and Fraud Department at VISA. My Badgenumber is 12460. Your card has been flagged for an unusual purchasepattern, and I'm calling to verify. This would be on your VISA cardwhich was issued by (name of bank). Did you purchase anAnti-Telemarketing Device for $497.99 from a Marketing company basedin Arizona?" When you say "No", the caller continues with, "Then wewill be issuing a credit to your account. This is a company we havebeen watching and the charges range from $297 to $497, just under the$500 purchase pattern that flags most cards. Before your nextstatement, the credit will be sent to (gives you your address), isthat correct?"
You say "yes". The caller continues - "I will be starting a Fraudinvestigation. If you have any questions, you should call the 1- 800number listed on the back of your card (1-800-VISA) and ask forSecurity.
You will need to refer to this Control Number. The caller then givesyou a 6 digit number. "Do you need me to read it again?"
Here's the IMPORTANT part on how the scam works. The caller then says,"I need to verify you are in possession of your card". He'll ask youto "turn your card over and look for some numbers". ; There are 7numbers; the first 4 are part of your card number, the next 3 are thesecurity Numbers' that verify you are the possessor of the card. Theseare the numbers you sometimes use to make Internet purchases to proveyou have the card. The caller will ask you to read the 3 numbers tohim. After you tell the caller the 3 numbers, he'll say, "That iscorrect, I just needed to verify that the card has not been lost orstolen, and that you still have your card. Do you have any otherquestions?" After you say No, the caller then thanks you and states,"Don't hesitate to call back if you do", and hangs up.
You actually say very little, and they never ask for or tell you theCard number. But after we were called on Wednesday, we called backwithin 20 minutes to ask a question. Are we glad we did! The REAL VISAS security Department told us it was a scam and in the last 15 minutesa new purchase chase of $497.99 was charged to our card.
Long story - short - we made a real fraud report and closed the VISAaccount. VISA is reissuing us a new number. What the scammers want isthe 3-digit PIN number on the back of the card. Don't give it to them.Instead, tell them you'll call VISA or Master card directly forverification of their conversation. The real VISA told us that theywill never ask for anything on the card as they already know theinformation since they issued the card! If you give the scammers your3 Digit PIN Number, you think you're receiving a credit. However, bythe time you get your statement you'll see charges for purchases youdidn't make, and by then it's almost too late and/or more difficult tto actually file a fraud report.
What makes this more remarkable is that on Thursday, I got a call froma "Jason Richardson of Master Card" with a word-for-word repeat of theVISA scam. This time I didn't let him finish. I hung up! We filed apolice report, as instructed by VISA. The police said they are takingseveral of these reports daily! They also urged us to tell everybodywe know that this scam is happening. Please pass this on to all your family and friends. By informing eachother, we protect each other.

Isn't it strange?
Isn't it strange how a 100-peso bill seems like such a large amount when you donate it to church, but such a small amount when you go shopping?
Isn't it strange how 2 hours seem so long when you're at church, and how short they seem when you're watching a good movie?
Isn't it strangethat you can't find a word to say when you're praying, but you have no trouble thinking what to talk about with a friend?
Isn't it strange how difficult and boring it is to read one chapter of the Bible, but how easy it is to read 100 pages of a popular novel or ZANE GREY book?
Isn't it strange how everyone wants front-row-tickets to concerts or games, but they do whatever is possible to sit at the last row in Church?
Isn't it strange how we need to know about an event for Church 2-3 weeks before the day so we can include it in our agenda, but we can adjust it for other events at the last minute?
Isn't it strange how difficult it is to learn a fact about God to share it with others, but how easy it is to learn, understand, extend and repeat gossip?
Isn't it strange how we believe everything that magazines and newspapers say, but we question the words in the Bible?
Isn't it strange how everyone wants a place in heaven, but they don't want to believe, do, or say anything to get there?
Isn't it strange how we send jokes in e-mails and they are forwarded right away, but when we are going to send messages about God, we think about it twice before we share it with others?
IT'S STRANGE ISN'T IT?

Encouragement for Today
Little Girl Lost
By Marybeth Whalen
“’Come back, wandering children! I can heal your wanderlust!’
‘We’re here! We’ve come back to you. You’re our own true God!’”
Jeremiah 3:22 (MSG)
Devotion:
This morning I was walking out of the library with my toddler trailing behind me. As I walked through the sliding glass door to the parking lot, I turned to look behind me and my daughter was gone. She had seemingly vanished into thin air. I began to call her name, my eyes darting around from the inside of the library to the parking lot ahead, then back to the corners of the lobby I was standing in. If you have ever lost a child, you know the panicky feeling that instantly wells up in your heart. I rushed back inside the library and asked the librarians if they had seen her come back in. They said no, but one went to look in the children’s section. My heart was racing and my blood pounding as I ran back out to the lobby, calling her name over and over, louder and louder.
“Lord,” I prayed, “please help me find my precious daughter. Please don’t let anything happen to her.” I thought of random scenarios of what could have happened. Every news report I have ever seen, every newspaper article featuring missing children flashed before my eyes. The librarian came out to where I was standing and asked me if I had checked the stairs. I eyed the set of stairs set off to the side of the lobby, reasoning that she wouldn’t go there. It couldn’t hurt to check, I decided. I walked up the stairs and rounded the corner to see that precious little face looking back at me. She was sitting on the stairs the whole time, listening to me call her name in a panic.
I swooped her into my arms and hugged her tightly. “Why didn’t you answer me?” I asked. She looked back at me with her big blue eyes, studying my face like I had lost my mind. To her, she was never lost, just enjoying a new hiding place.
As I have thought of that moment when I knew she was gone, I have pictured her listening to me call to her, but not answering my cries. She had made a wrong turn and was out of my sight. I know all the dangers in the world. I know how careful I must be with my precious child. But she didn’t see the harm in trying out something new, investigating something different.
How many times have I been like my little girl? How many times have I ignored my Father’s voice, choosing my own way instead of answering His call? How many times have I been lost and didn’t even know it? How many times has He sought me out, even when I was unaware of the dangers that were lurking?
We all lose our way. The important part is not that we fall short, but how we respond when we do. Do we cry, “I’m here Daddy! Rescue me!” Or do we try to answer our own questions and solve our own problems? Do we need to rely on God more and ourselves less? Do we need to allow Him to pull us from our hiding place and hear His voice say, “I’ve been looking for you, my precious daughter.” Today I saw myself in my child—in desperate need of being found, of being searched for, of being drawn out of my hiding places, of being protected from the things I foolishly think are safe. Today I saw my Father, so willing to do all those things—to go to the ends of the earth if that is what it takes, to send His own Son to die in my place, to swoop me up into His arms and say, “I am so glad I found you.” It’s good to be found—even when you didn’t know you were lost.
Dear Lord, thank You for searching for me and not giving up when I have been lost but didn’t even realize it. Thank You for calling my name and loving me enough to draw me out of my hiding places. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Application Steps:
What are your hiding places? Write them down as God brings them to mind. Ask Him to help you stop hiding.
Reflections:
Is there someone in your life who needs you to pray today’s scripture as a promise for their life? Do you need to pray today’s scripture, responding with, “I’m here! I’ve come back. You are my true God”? If so, don’t delay in praying that prayer aloud today.
Power Verses:
Job 28:10-11, “He tunnels through the rock; his eyes see all its treasures. He searches the sources of the rivers and brings hidden things to light.” (NIV)
Psalm 143:9, “Rescue me from my enemies, O Lord, for I hide myself in you.” (NIV)
Psalm 32:7, “You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.” (NIV)

"The Bucket List" Movie
I watched this movie the other week. Actually, I am not fond of watching such movie types, but since hubby was curious about it, I decided to give it a try. Whew! it was a tear jerker to me. I ended up teary eyed at the ending part. It moved me, and so with my husband. Call us tear jerkers, OA, corny...whatever...but it's about a story that runs and happens in one's every day life situations. It can happen to anybody, anytime and anywhere. The story is about Corporate billionaire Edward Cole (Jack Nicholson) and working class mechanic Carter Chambers (Morgan Freeman) whose worlds are far apart. At a crossroads in their lives, they share a hospital room and discover they have two things in common: a desire to spend the time they have left doing everything they ever wanted to do before they “kick the bucket” and an unrealized need to come to terms with who they are. Together they embark on the road trip of a lifetime, becoming friends along the way and learning to live life to the fullest. Each adventure adds another check to their list, all done with insight and humor.

"Treasure Box?"
Actually, it's not a treasure box but a photo box that was a gift to us by our friend Barbara on our wedding. I haven't seen it for 2 years because it was hidden inside my closet. While I was rearranging my wardrobe, I saw it hidden underneath my clothes and so I took it out and placed it on our bedroom table. I didn't know I put some things in it and I was even surprise to see this thing :))
Some bundles of pesos that I brought way back from the Philippines the year 2006. I counted it and reached to 11,000 PHP bucks!! See how heaven pours its blessings. I am aware this is not spendable in America, but I'm gonna be strolling at Mall of Asia, either later this year...LOL! Definitely, I'll be going back home again. Hhmmm, it's always good savoring Pinoy foods huh? :)..at least once a year is more than enough. I won't complain, hahaha...

Hugs of Encouragement
You might find it easier to share kind words and heartfelt hugs when you feel happy and secure. But when you are discouraged or tired, it may seem dificult to encourage someone (including yourself.)
According to Anna Quindlen, "Love is not leisure, it is work." So, those days when the dog bites or the bee stings, you should be quick to do the "work" rquired to give-and receive-love. After all, the world still needs the hugs it can get...especially yours.

Election 2008: Issues, issues everywhere ... Will They Help The World?
The election of the next U.S. President is in November 2008. The primaries are beginning and that will determine the two candidates that will compete for the highest position in the U.S. government. U.S. voters are battling with many issues. Let's talk about the issues.
WHY MEN ARE NEVER DEPRESSED:
Women...watch and read :))
Men Are Just Happier People-- What do you expect from such simple creatures? Your last name stays put. The garage is all yours. Wedding plans take care of themselves. Chocolate is just another snack. You can be President. You can never be pregnant. You can wear a white T-shirt to a water park. You can wear NO shirt to a water park. Car mechanics tell you the truth. The world is your urinal. You never have to drive to another gas station restroom because this one is just too icky. You don't have to stop and think of which way to turn a nut on a bolt. Same work, more pay. Wrinkles add character. Wedding dress $5000. Tux rental-$100. People never stare at your chest when you're talking to them. New shoes don't cut, blister, or mangle your feet. One mood all the time. Phone conversations are over in 30 seconds flat. You know stuff about tanks. A five-day vacation requires only one suitcase. You can open all your own jars. You get extra credit for the slightest act of thoughtfulness. If someone forgets to invite you, he or she can still be your friend.
Your underwear is $8.95 for a three-pack. Three pairs of shoes are more than enough. You almost never have strap problems in public. You are unable to see wrinkles in your clothes. Everything on your face stays its original color. The same hairstyle lasts for years, maybe decades. You only have to shave your face and neck. You can play with toys all your life. One wallet and one pair of shoes -- one color for all seasons. You can wear shorts no matter how your legs look. You can "do" your nails with a pocket knife. You have freedom of choice concerning growing a mustache. You can do Christmas shopping for 25 relatives on December 24 in 25 minutes. No wonder men are happier.
Human Touch Quality Massage Chairs
One thing more, you can avail of their factory closeouts and get the chance to explore their products as well. It's worth trying the Number One Massage Chair Brand in the U.S. by Human Touch...a very rare opportunity you can't afford to miss! After all it's all about your health ;)
John 3:16
The church's pastor slowly stood up, walked over to the pulpit and,
before he gave his sermon for the evening, briefly introduced a guest minister
who was in the service that evening.
In the introduction, the pastor told the congregation that the guest minister was
one of his dearest childhood friends and that he wanted him to have a few
moments to greet the church and share whatever he felt would be appropriate
for the service.
With that, an elderly man stepped up to the pulpit and began to speak.
"A father, his son, and a friend of his son were Sailing off the Pacific coast,
" he began, "when a fast approaching storm blocked any attempt to get back to the shore. The waves were so high, that even though the father was an experienced
sailor, he could not keep the boat upright and the three were swept into the
ocean as the boat capsized."
The old man hesitated for a moment, making eye contact with two teenagers
who were, for the first time since the service began, looking somewhat
interested in his story. The aged minister continued with his story,
"grabbing a rescue line, the father had to make the most excruciating
decision of his life: To which boy he would throw the other end of the life line.
He only had seconds to make the decision. The father knew that his son was a Christian and he also knew that his son's friend was not. The agony of his
decision could not be matched by the torrent of waves.
"As the father yelled out, 'I love you, son!' he threw out the lifeline to his son's
friend. By the time the father had pulled the friend back to the capsized boat, his
son had disappeared beneath the raging swells into the black of night. His body
was never recovered."
By this time, the two teenagers were sitting up straight in the pew, anxiously
waiting for the next words to come out of the old man. He continued, "the father
knew his son would step into eternity with Jesus and he could not bear the
thought of his son's friend stepping into an eternity without Jesus. Therefore, he sacrificed his son to save the son's friend. How great is the love of God that He
should do the same for us. Our heavenly Father sacrificed His only begotten
Son that we could be saved. I urge you to accept his offer to rescue you and
take a hold of the life line he is throwing out to you in this service."
With that, the old man turned and sat back down in his chair as silence filled the
room. The pastor again walked slowly to the pulpit and delivered a brief sermon
with an invitation at the end. However, no one responded to the appeal. Within
minutes after the service ended, the two teenagers were at the old man's side.
"That was a nice story," politely stated one of the boys, "but I don't think it was very realistic for a father to give up his only son's life in hopes that the other boy
would become a Christian."
"Well, you've got a point there," the old man replied, glancing down at his worn
bible. A big smile broadened his narrow face as he once again looked up at the
boys and said, "it sure isn't very realistic, is it? But I'm standing here today to
tell you that story gives me a glimpse of what it must have been like for God to
give up his son for me. You see---I was that father and your pastor is my son's friend."
Isn't this wonderful!!

"ENOUGH"
Recently, I overheard a mother and daughter in their last moments together at the airport. They had announced the departure. Standing near the security gate, they hugged, and the mother said, 'I love you, and I wish you enough.'The daughter replied, 'Mom, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too, Mom.'They kissed, and the daughter left. The mother walked over to the window where I was seated. Standing there, I could see she wanted and needed to cry. I tried not to intrude on her privacy, but she welcomed me in by asking, 'Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would be forever?'Yes, I have,' I replied. 'Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever good-bye?''I am old, and she lives so far away. I have challenges ahead, and the reality is - her next trip back will be for my funeral,' she said.'When you were saying good-bye, I heard you say, 'I wish you enough.' May I ask what that means?'She began to smile. 'That's a wish that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone.' She paused a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail, and she smiled even more. 'When we said, 'I wish you enough,' we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them.' Then, turning toward me, she shared the following as if she were reciting it from memory.
I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how gray the day may appear.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting..
I wish you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may appear bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye.
Then, she began to cry, and walked away.
They say, it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but an entire life to forget them.
TAKE TIME TO LIVE.....
To all my friends and loved ones,
I WISH YOU ENOUGH........

An Atheist in the Woods (Just for a good laugh :)
An atheist was walking through the woods. "What majestic trees"! "What powerful rivers"! "What beautiful animals"! He said to himself.
As he was walking alongside the river, he heard a rustling in the bushes behind him. He turned to look. He saw a 7-foot grizzly bear charge towards him.
He ran as fast as he could up the path. He looked over his shoulder & saw that the bear was closing in on him. He looked over his shoulder again, & the bear was even closer. He tripped & fell on the ground. He rolled over to pick himself up but saw that the bear was right on top of him, reaching for him with his left paw & raising his right paw to strike him.
At that instant the Atheist cried out, "Oh my God!"
Time Stopped. The bear froze. The forest was silent.
As a bright light shone upon the man, a voice came out of the sky. "You deny my existence for all these years, teach others I don't exist and even credit creation to cosmic accident." "Do you expect me to help you out of this predicament? Am I to count you as a believer"? The atheist looked directly into the light, "It would be hypocritical of me to suddenly ask you to treat me as a Christian now, but perhaps you could make the BEAR a Christian"?
"Very Well," said the voice.
The light went out. The sounds of the forest resumed. And the bear dropped his right paw, brought both paws together, bowed his head & spoke:
"Lord bless this food, which I am about to receive from thy bounty through Christ our Lord, Amen."

Eyes Strain

I have been into hedaches the whole week, and lately I discovered my sight is getting blurry reading. I spent large hours infront of the computer almost daily, and so I developed more eye strains.
I am planning to go to the eye doctor this weekend, hopefully and let my eyes be checked. Meantime, I and hubby went to Walgreens and looked for reading glasses available. I tried one of those and it worked for me. It was only that time that I knew, I had a grade of 1.50. I don't know if this is accurate, but it helps me just for reading clearly. It is so cool they have reading glasses over the counter on any stores here.

It is often referred to as the world's premier horticultural showplace, with its ever-changing gardens and opulent conservatories that offer a new experience with each memorable visit. Considered as one of the great gardens of the world, Longwood Gardens is truly a magnificent place to connect with nature...and each other.
We didn't had any regrets spending our New year's day there (2008). We were still able to catch the "christmas route" visit in the conservatories and got a lot of photos of the flower's captivating beauties.
It's just so amazing to witness once more how God's creations reflect their various colors throughout the changes of the season.

I like reading this book...due to its clarity and simplicity, obviously for easy understanding. It's actually practical wisdoms that the Bible offers which can make a difference in your life if you apply it.
Above all, the book still encourages you to read your Bible as you go along with the book.
