When it comes to how and why our furry pets make us sneeze and wheeze, here is what the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology's straight answer;
It's not the hair. The allergen comes from the saliva, urine, oil glands and dead skin cells of your pet, so, keeping a short-haired dog or hairless cat isn't always "safer".
Some animals are bred to have lower levels of allergens, but you can still be bothered by different ones. So, bottom line; - no pet is completely hypoallergenic.
Note: As much as possible, try temporarily diving with Fluffy before you commit ;).
