Myths About Things That Causes Cancer

1. That deodorant/antiperspirant can be cancerous! Based on a 2002 epidemiologic study, they found no link between breast cancer risk and deodorant and antiperspirant use.

2. Using underwire bras. This is another oft-reported myth. According to a certain belief, the wire compresses the lymphatic system which causes "toxins" to accumulate that lead to cancer. But medical experts say that no clothing can increase your cancer risk.

3. Caffeine. Although it can make some breasts become more lumpy, many studies have shown that there's no connection between caffeine consumption and cancer.

4. Yearly mammogram. The American Cancer Society says that the amount of radiation you receive from a mammogram is extremely small.

5. Having big breasts. Anyone with breasts, big or small is at risk of developing cancer! But if your breasts are dense - and they can be dense at any size, you may want to talk to your doctor about additional screening methods aside from mammograms. About 35% of breast cancer goes undetected by mammography, and is often a problem for those with dense breasts.

6.Breast implants. Studies show that there's no connection between surgical enhancements and cancer risks but take note that implants can make it more difficult for a radiologist to read mammograms.
