- Watch out for hot pavement. If it's too hot for you to walk barefoot, it's too hot for your dog.
- Let cats bat around an ice cube.
- Reward your dog or cat with frozen treats, or simply freeze a treat inside an ice cube.
- Try a body cooler pet mat for pooches. Copolymer crystals keep pup cool (but watch him if he's a chewer.)
- Never shave a dog. (Skin tends to burn) For pet with light skin, rub a sunscreen with SPF 15 or more on ears and nose.
