Small Steps to a Better Diet

It's tough to change your eating habits, but fortunately, you don't have to change everything instantly.

Start with one or two little things like replacing one food with another. Here's how to upgrade your diet, one small step at a time.

Slowly, replace full-fat milk, cheese and yogurt with low-fat or non fat versions.
Buy lean meats of beef, lamb and pork labeled as "loin" or "round". They are usually the leanest.
Remove skin from poultry as well as remove fat from meat before cooking.
Choose fish as your main course at least twice a week.
Replace your bread, rice, pasta and cereals from refined grains to whole-grain products.
Buy frozen and canned products packed without added sugars, salt or fats when fresh foods are not available.
Cut up raw veggies for a crunchy choice that beats chips and crackers.

Small steps count for exercise, too! ;)
